BLACK LABEL 005: KENYA
The Black Label is back.
For our fifth Black Label release, we’re heading to Kenya —a place that consistently produces some of the most distinctive coffees in the world. This exceptional washed coffee comes from the Thomas Masila Mutunga Estate, and it was exactly the kind of coffee we look for when deciding what deserves the Black Label: expressive, complex, and impossible to ignore.
In the cup, we’re getting blackberry, cola, and clove. Juicy dark fruit hits first, followed by that deep cola-like sweetness and a subtle clove spice that hangs around in the finish. It’s bright without being overly acidic, sweet without being simple, and has the kind of character that keeps changing as the cup cools.
Black Label has always been reserved for coffees we believe deserve a little more attention—small releases that stand apart from our everyday lineup. Five releases in, that hasn’t changed.
Black Label No. 5. Kenya. The conspiracy continues.
